A 37-year-old woman was walking near the I-83 ramp on Route 30 on Wednesday night when she was struck and killed by a tractor trailer, according to a release from York County Coroner Pamela Gay’s office.
The woman was identified as Kristi Why, of no fixed address.
Why was reportedly walking with a friend near Route 30 eastbound and the I-83 off-ramp when she fell and injured herself, according to the coroner’s report. She was unable to immediately get back up and was hit by a tractor trailer as it exited the ramp. The tractor trailer did not stop after striking her.
EMS was called, but resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending. An autopsy is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
