This was announced by First Deputy Minister for Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi during a nationwide telethon, Ukrinform reports.
"As for the sown areas, there will be a reorientation. Oilseed crops will become a priority… Oilseed crops have a lower yield per hectare, since their gross yield in weight is less, but the cost is 2-2.5 times higher compared to grain crops," he said.
According to Vysotskyi, in addition to rapeseed, the areas will be sown with soybeans and sunflowers. The total amount of harvested crops is projected to be 10-15% less, but will be compensated by the higher cost.
He emphasized that oil crops in Ukraine are export-oriented.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine projects that during the 2023 spring sowing campaign, Ukrainian farmers will reduce sown areas by at least 20% compared to 2021.
