Fisheries and Livestock Minister Nkandu Luo says there is need to strengthen the financial and entrepreneurship skills in the aquaculture training programme under the Ministry of fisheries sector.
Professor Luo says this will help to close the gap on fish stock in the country which currently stands at 87 thousand metric tonnes.
Professor Luo was speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 5th and 6th cohorts of the Zambia Aquaculture Enterprise Incubation Programme (ZAEIP) sponsored by the Zambia Aquaculture Enterprise Development Project in the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock in Kitwe yesterday.
And giving a vote of thanks, Elizabeth Bwalya Mpundu called on the Ministry to ensure that funds under ZAEDP are released to them on time if the programme is to realize meaningful benefits for Zambia’s aquaculture sector.
ZAEDP enrolled 127 incubatees for a period of three months and 125 were graduating from the National Aquaculture Development Center in Kitwe yesterday.
