New Holland in Africa

New Holland, together with its local distributor in Kenya, CMC Motors Group, hosted a training camp at Karen Country Club in Nairobi, Kenya, for East and Southern African markets in November last year.

More than 50 participants from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Sudan, Angola, Mauritius, Zambia and Zimbabwe attended the events.

The training exercises focused on six different segments, including combines, balers, New Holland’s Precision Land Management solutions, utility tractors, medium horsepower tractors and high horsepower tractors.

The following machines were used for demonstration:

  • The TC5.30 combine harvester, designed to deliver impressive performance in a variety of crops and conditions;
  • The T55 and TT75 tractors, featuring outstanding power, speed, lift capacity and pulling strength;
  • The TT4 tractor, designed for tough conditions;
  • The TD5.110 tractor, featuring unrivalled premium operator comfort;
  • The TS6 tractor, designed to put big power into rows of tall vegetables and speciality crops.

Also seen were the T6080, the T7040 and the T8.410 tractors.

“Every day we’re pushing boundaries, moving to a better future,” Özkan Eren, head of business for New Holland in the Middle East and Africa, told attendees.

“There are huge opportunities ahead of us, and this type of training programme is extremely important, as it enables us to be close to our customers with a strong and professional network, to help them get their job done efficiently and profitably.”

The training camp also included a demonstration session, during which the T8.410 tractor model was unveiled to customers in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The attendees all had a chance to test-drive the new tractor.

New Holland was a market leader in the East Africa region, said Alex Makaa, New Holland divisional manager at CMC Motors Group.

“We’re living in a fast-changing agricultural environment, and we’re happy to be part of this kind of training in Kenya. We’re ready to go the extra mile together,” he said.

New Holland’s digital farmer support app, FarmMate, was also recently made available to farmers in Africa and the Middle East.

The app was first launched on markets such as Australia, Myanmar and Thailand, in March 2019.

Designed for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, the app aims to support African and Middle Eastern farmers by offering them agronomic advice in their daily activities.

Through the app, farmers have access to valuable and detailed advice and information on how they can get the best from their fields and from the crops they are cultivating.

Always relevant
The app is customised for African and Middle Eastern markets in the region, so
that the news, promotions, products and agronomic information provided are always relevant.

According to New Holland, the app also provides farmers with useful tools for their daily activities, such as a currency converter, weather forecasts, and news about New Holland products and activities in their country.
