National Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest results – Morning Ag Clips –

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Livestock Judging Team from Oklahoma State University won the National Championship at the 2022 National Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest held at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky on November 14, 2022. The team coached by Parker Henley took home the National Champion honors with a score of 4685, outscoring by one point Texas A&M University’s 4684. Members of the winning team included Caden Arnold, Kyler Lee, Kyler Vernon, Hunter Lock and Cal Schultz. Oklahoma State placed three team members in the top ten individuals overall.
In addition to being the high team overall, Oklahoma State was the high team in cattle and oral reasons.
Texas A&M, coached by Caleb Boardman and Landon Eldridge was also the high team in sheep and goats, swine, and had four individuals in the top ten overall.
The high team takes home the Spoor Trophy, a bronze bull whose likeness was the symbol of the International Livestock Exposition in Chicago. A likeness of the trophy has been presented to the winning team every year since the first contest at the 1900 International. The tradition has continued since the contest moved to the North American International Livestock Exposition in 1976.
Western Illinois University was the third-high team overall, followed by Kansas state University in fourth and Texas Tech in fifth.
Caleb Boden from Western Illinois University was the high individual overall with a score of 951. Caleb was also the third high individual in swine, seventh in cattle, and third in oral reasons.
The high individual overall in the contest received the Robert Hall Challenge Trophy, given by the 2019 Saddle and Sirloin Portrait honoree.
