A man was killed Thursday night after a medical episode led him to crash a tractor-trailer off SR-29 in Immokalee.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 59-year-old man from Estero was driving a tractor-trailer west on SR-29, east of 2nd Street, shortly after 7 p.m. He suffered an unspecified medical episode and lost control of the vehicle, which traveled off the roadway right, collided with a chain-link fence and came to rest facing west on the north curbed shoulder of SR-29.
The man was transported to North Collier Hospital by EMS and later pronounced dead. The crash remains under investigation.
