WESTPORT — Many people make New Year’s resolutions to improve their health.
The Westport Farmers Market will host four lectures on health topics during January with advice that can help people achieve those 2023 wellness goals.
The lectures all will take place at 1 p.m. Thursdays during the market’s regular weekly sessions at Gilbertie’s Herbs & Garden Center, 7 Sylvan Lane.
The lecture schedule follows:
Jan. 5: “Yoga is [Not] a Four-Letter Word,” presented by Abbey Chase, owner of Abbey Chase Yoga. The lecture aims to “demystify” yoga, and will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
Jan. 12: “Muscle Activation, Neurological Inhibition and Chronic Pain,” will be discussed by Dr. Andrew Crape. A question-and-answer session will follow.
Jan. 19: “Manual Lymphatic Drainage” will be the topic of the lecture by Rev. Dr. Mark L. Heilshorn, owner of Dharma Massage Therapy. A question-and-answer session will follow.
Jan. 26: “Gut Healing and Anti-inflammatory Bonebroth Detox Soup Demonstration” will be the theme of a program presented by Christine Beal Dunst, CEO and co-founder of Embody Wellness Co.
“We are hosting this lecture series to support a healthy community,” Lori Cochran-Dougall, executive director of the farmers market, said in a publicity release about the lectures.
“Education and exploration in one’s health is incredibly important and we are happy to provide the space and experts to our community,” she added.
