The US-based BG Titan Group has officially launched its innovative Titan E-Farms project in Uganda, marking the first step in a larger strategy to revolutionize agriculture across East Africa.
With a total investment exceeding $650 million, Titan E-Farms aims to create a sustainable agricultural model that promotes economic growth while addressing critical environmental challenges. The project focuses on integrating advanced, sustainable technologies to decarbonize agricultural processes and eliminate waste. A key feature is its waste-to-power system, which converts organic matter into energy, resulting in zero waste and a fully sustainable, closed-loop farming cycle.
A primary objective of the Titan E-Farms project is to generate clean energy, with the potential to produce 50-100 MW of renewable power through a combination of waste-to-power, solar, and hydrogen technologies. This energy will not only support the farm’s operations but also supply surplus power to surrounding communities, promoting energy independence and improving local infrastructure.

The project is expected to create over 5,000 direct jobs in farming, technology, and energy production, with tens of thousands of indirect jobs in logistics, supply chains, and related industries. Titan E-Farms aims to empower local communities through skills development and sustainable livelihoods, fostering long-term economic growth in the region.
A standout feature of the project is Titan Air, BG Titan’s proprietary technology for capturing CO2 and methane, converting them into algae. This process not only decarbonizes the farming cycle but also produces algae that can be used as fertilizer and fish feed, supporting both soil health and aquaculture. This circular farming model aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addressing both food security and environmental sustainability.
The farms’ energy-efficient design includes solar power and hydrogen production, ensuring long-term sustainability while significantly reducing the carbon footprint of agricultural practices. The project will also integrate agri-solar practices, combining high-value crop cultivation—such as coffee and mangoes—with solar energy generation. Additionally, fish farming will be included to support local food systems and create additional revenue streams.
Following its launch in Uganda, BG Titan Group plans to expand the Titan E-Farms model to neighboring countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda, replicating its zero-waste, renewable energy-driven approach to agriculture and fostering regional collaboration for sustainable development.
