Regenerative agriculture practices are good for soil health and improving water quality but they can also be beneficial to a farmer’s bottom line.
Paul Scheetz is the Director of Climate Smart Ag Origination at ADM. Scheetz and his team offer premiums and incentives for farmers in several different states to help implement regenerative agriculture practices on their farm. Scheetz says ADM’s first regenerative agriculture program began in Des Moines, Iowa 10 years ago and was a learning experience.
Scheetz says that the goal of the program is not to dictate to farmers what sustainability practices to implement with their operation. Instead it is designed to help farmers more quickly adopt regenerative agriculture practices.
The ADM Re:generations program is now in operation in over 15 states. Most of the focus is around corn, soybean, wheat, and peanut production.
